Government Approves 2% DA Hike for Employees!
The Indian Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees, impacting around 1.15 crore individuals, including pensioners. This hike will take effect from January 1, 2025, raising the DA from 53% to 55% of the basic pay. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted that this adjustment aims to help employees cope with inflation. The financial burden of this decision on the government will be ₹6,614.04 crore annually. The increase will benefit approximately 48.66 lakh employees and 66.55 lakh pensioners, providing much-needed relief before the 8th Pay Commission is expected to be announced.
