Starlink’s Expensive Entry in India: Will It Challenge Jio and Airtel?

Elon Musk’s Starlink is set to launch in India, bringing satellite-based internet services to the country. However, its pricing could limit its appeal.

Estimates suggest users may spend ₹1.58 lakh in the first year, including a ₹37,400 device and ₹7,425 monthly fees. Even in the second year, costs could drop to ₹1.15 lakh, still far above Jio and Airtel’s plans, which start at ₹700-₹1,000 monthly. Targeting remote areas, Starlink’s advanced technology offers connectivity where traditional services fail. While India’s government has approved Starlink, pricing will depend on upcoming spectrum recommendations.
