India's growing economy and emphasis on good governance will drive the demand for 1 lakh company secretaries by 2030, as stated by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI).
Currently, out of more than 73,000 company secretaries, only about 12,000 are in practice. ICSI President B Narasimhan highlighted the critical role company secretaries play in ensuring corporate compliance and supporting India as a top investment destination. With ICSI granting over 2,500 memberships annually, the need for more professionals in this field is clear.
