Record-breaking Diwali sales set the stage for India's upcoming wedding season, starting November 23. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) predicts a business worth Rs 4.74 lakh crore, fueled by around 38 lakh weddings.
Last year, with 32 lakh weddings, the trade was estimated at Rs 3.75 lakh crore. CAIT anticipates the weddings to generate business for both goods and services, with expenditures ranging from Rs 3 lakh to over Rs 1 crore.
The trade body hopes the wedding season sales momentum will continue through Christmas, New Year, and the next surge starting January 14.
