Mukesh Ambani's Jio Platforms, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has received approval from India's space regulator IN-SPACe to launch satellite internet in the country. This joint venture with Luxembourg's SES, named Orbit Connect India, aims to provide high-speed internet via satellites, focusing on rural areas. While Jio has surpassed competitors like Elon Musk's Starlink and Jeff Bezos' Kuiper in gaining initial approval, it still requires further clearances from the Department of Telecommunication. The Indian satellite broadband market is projected to grow significantly, potentially reaching USD 1.9 billion by 2030.
