NSE Halts Bank Nifty Weekly Expiries to Reduce Volatility

Starting November 20, NSE will no longer offer weekly futures and options contracts for the Bank Nifty index, shifting to monthly expiries as part of SEBI's mandate.

This change is aimed at lowering market volatility and aligning price movements more closely with underlying fundamentals, benefitting retail investors. NSE will retain weekly contracts solely for Nifty 50, while the BSE will discontinue weekly contracts for Sensex 50 and Bankex on November 14 and 18, respectively. Nifty Midcap Select will be available until November 18, with Nifty Financial Services ending on November 19.
