Quick-Commerce Rises, But Kirana Shops Remain Strong in Small Towns

Quick-commerce platforms are transforming urban retail with fast deliveries, challenging traditional kirana shops, especially in metro cities.

As more customers turn to apps for groceries, the survival of corner stores is under pressure. However, kiranas in smaller towns and rural areas remain strong, with 85-87% of FMCG sales still coming from them. India has around 13 million kirana stores, essential for daily essentials, especially in rural regions. Companies like Parle Products and SnapBizz highlight that kiranas continue to serve a vast population and play a crucial role in the market.
