L&T Technology Services Ltd. has won a major $80 million deal from a US-based industrial company for a multi-year digital engineering transformation project. The partnership focuses on integrating AI, automation, and digital solutions to speed up product development and enhance customer value. In the December quarter, L&T Tech’s US dollar revenue grew by 1.6%, with a 3.1% rise in constant currency revenue. EBIT margin improved to 15.9%. The company projects 10% full-year revenue growth, including the Intelliswift acquisition.

Whirlpool India shares dropped 20% after its parent company, Whirlpool Corporation, announced plans to cut its stake from 51% to 20% by late 2025. This move follows a 24% stake sale last year for ₹4,039 crore at ₹1,280 per share. The stock had surged 91% to ₹2,449 in October 2024 but has since fallen 36%. Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch its first electric vehicle, the E-Vitara, but the company says EV profits won't match petrol cars anytime soon. In its Q3 earnings call, executives explained that EVs need heavy government subsidies due to high costs. Maruti is focusing on cost reduction, local production, and better battery technology to make EVs more affordable. The E-Vitara, launching under NEXA, will have a 500+ km range and compete with Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, MG Windsor EV, and Hyundai Creta EV. The company promises top reliability and strong service support by fixing common EV issues.

OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, is accusing Chinese company DeepSeek of copying its AI models. However, OpenAI itself is facing multiple lawsuits worldwide for copyright infringement. In India, publishers like Penguin Random House and media houses such as NDTV and Network18 have taken legal action against OpenAI for allegedly using their copyrighted content without permission. The Delhi High Court is handling these cases, with concerns that OpenAI’s AI model is scraping and using copyrighted materials unfairly. Many are calling this a case of "Chor Ke Ghar Chori."

From February 1, 2025, UPI transactions using special characters in transaction IDs will be blocked, as per NPCI’s new rule. Payment apps must use only alphanumeric characters for UPI transaction IDs to ensure system efficiency and security. Despite earlier warnings, some players have yet to comply. Transactions on UPI hit a record 16.73 billion in December 2024, with a total value of ₹23.25 lakh crore. Experts say this change will streamline payments and prevent errors. Users are advised to check their UPI apps for compliance.

Tata Motors Ltd reported a 22.40 per cent year-on-year drop in consolidated net profit to Rs 5, 451 crore for the third quarter ( Q3 ) ended December 2024. The decline was due to weaker margins and subdued Jaguar Land Rover ( JLR ) volumes. JLR ’s revenue for the quarter was 7.5 billion , up 1.5 per cent while YTD revenue at 21.2 billion was flat YoY. “ The fundamentals of the business are strong and therefore despite external challenges we are confident of delivering another strong performance this year , ” PB Balaji , Group Chief Financial Officer , Tata Motors said.

Bajaj Finance reported a strong Q3 performance with a net profit of ₹4,308 crore, rising 18% YoY. Assets Under Management (AUM) surged 28% to ₹3.09 lakh crore, while net interest income grew by 29% to ₹8,010 crore.

New loans booked rose 26% to 9.86 million. The company’s customer base expanded to 83.64 million, adding 3.58 million in Q3. Despite higher expenses, strong loan growth and stable asset quality boosted earnings. Bajaj Finance remains optimistic about future growth.
